Our main base of operations and coordination. DevTalk was created in 2016 on Discord and has been a major factor in the steady growth of visual novels and now narrative games! DevTalk prides itself on its culture, its diverse userbase of over 13,000 users, and helpful community!

The VNDev Wiki is a resource built by and for visual novel developers, containing definitions for industry terms, catalogs of industry events run both by the community and those connected to it, and even guides for specific tasks or goals!

Spooktober Visual Novel Jam
Spooktober Visual Novel Jam is the community’s largest sponsored competition that runs annually between August and October. The competition is designed to encourage developers to chase their ambitions and build the best visual novel they can during the month of September themed after Halloween in order to prep developers to take advantage of the spike of interest from readers in October.
Sealed With A Kiss Jam
Sealed with a Kiss jam is an annual Fantasy Romance oriented jam that runs in January in preparation for Valentine’s Day in Feburary to encourage developers to take advantage in the spike of interest in dating sims and romance oriented fiction.
Make Visual Novel Assets! Jam
Make Visual Novel Assets! Jam, or MVNA Jam, is a friendly competition between asset creators for visual novels and other narrative games that encourages creatives of all types to create things that could fit into a visual novel. This permissive jam accepts everything from sound effects, artwork, scripts and stories and more, and then everyone who submitted an asset votes for the winner of the competition.
Otome / Josei Jam
Otome Jam and Josei Jam are a pair of visual novel jams oriented around the concepts of Otome and Josei content, encouraging developers to create Otome games and Josei games respectively.
Only One of Any Asset Jam (O2A2)
O2A2 jam is a casual challenge jam encouraging developers to create a visual novel with only one of any asset and up to 1,000 words.
Raise Your Voice Jam
Raise Your Voice Jam promotes voice acting in the visual novel space by encouraging developers to add voice acting to existing visual novels.
Winter Visual Novel Jam
Winter Visual Novel Jam is a laid-back event that promotes easygoing development, inspiring creators to craft content with a winter theme.
